The American
College of Obstetricians Gynecologists (ACOG) in its Patient Safety Series
develops strong recommendations and guidelines for a tracking system. ACOG
deems a tracking system as an essential mechanism for patient safety.
Essential elements of the system are: a central location, specific data on
the events(s) being tracked, a log maintained in the patient’s chart showing
the progressive status of each event, and a written policy that spells out
all events to be tracked, and delineates actions to be taken to ensure all
events are brought to a point of completion.
Cameric functions as the hub
for all patient information. All pertinent existing information is obtained
to perform the initial needs analysis. Working with the local physician and
the identified consultant, any additional tests, or studies that can be done
in the patient’s country are completed prior to traveling. While the patient
is in the U.S., all office visits, hospital care, laboratory reports,
imaging studies, procedures are tracked and final records obtained.
Cameric Global Health Services sends a final packet of information on all
aspects of the care provided to the referring physician. Cameric sees that
any ongoing care or monitoring that may be needed locally is clearly
communicated between the specialist and referring physicians. In actively
overseeing the physician communications, both in the U.S. and between the
U.S. and the patient’s home country, Cameric creates a “seamless” process.
The high level of care coordination is beyond the experience of many
patients in most countries of the world.
